Fire Horse
A poem inspired by the Chinese Year of the Fire Horse
This is the Year of Fire Of flintstone strikes and searing sparks Of flares and flames of red desire And glowing embers in the dark Embrace the heat – you may get burned But every scald’s a lesson learned – Pursue the light, each spangled star’s A brilliant dreams to take you far This is the Year of the Horse Of breaking free and running wild Of beats and bursts of unleashed force And riding with our inner child Embrace the speed – you may get tired But every run’s an arrow fired – Pursue the wind, each gust and gale’s A whisper of your feral tale This is the Year of the Fire Horse Of drumming hooves and eyes inflamed Of burning loss and changing course With flashing minds and hearts untamed Embrace the fire – it tempers steel And feeds the passion that you feel – Pursue your bliss, it lights the soul And blazes trails that make you whole
